HOLISTIC TREATMENTS

The word "holistic" is derived from "whole". The holistic approach to health differs from the conventional medical approach in that it takes into account the whole patient rather than just focusing on the symptom or the part that has the problem.

Most holistic therapists believe that the body has a vital force or life energy. It is this force that protects the body from disease and allows it to heal. We often refer to it as the "immune system". When the balance of the immune system is disturbed we the see the various symptoms of dis-ease. Holistic therapies aim to help the patient restore the balance, thus allowing the body to heal itself naturally.

Hopi Ear Candles

(including pressure point face massage) - 40 mins £33.50

Brief History of Hopi Ear Candles

This is an ancient and natural therapy handed down by many civilisations. It is believed that the Ancient Greeks used ear candles, initially probably for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual basis, but much later on a purely physical basis. However, the practice reached the modern world via the native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona. Ear candles were used traditionally by Shamen healers. Ancient wall paintings show their importance in initiation rituals and healing ceremonies of the tribe. The candles are still made today on the basis of the old traditional formula originating from the Hopi Indians.

How do Hopi Ear Candles work?

The candles work in two ways, Aromatherapy action and Physical action. They are made from the natural ingredients of beeswax, honey extracts, sage, St Johns Wort and chamomile. A constant high quality is ensured. The candles work on a chimney principle, drawing any impurities to the surface where they can be gently removed. Pressure in the head and ears are equalized giving a balancing effect. Secretion flow is gently stimulated and the vapour collects and removes impurities or deposits. Most of these are carried away through the candle "chimney", although some of them can be found in the condensed candle wax residue after removal from the ear, or could even work their way up to the surface 24-48 hours after.

Hopi Candles can be helpful with:
• Excessive or compacted wax in the ears
• Pressure regulation in cases of : sinusitis / rhinitis / glue ear / colds / flu / headaches / migraine
• Relaxing and calming effect in cases of stress
• Noises in the ears, ringing, tinnitus
• Divers problems
• Pain in the ears while flying

No contra-indications are known to date but as a precaution, it is advisable not to use Hopi candles

Reflexology

45 mins £34.00

Reflexology is a holistic treatment which has its roots in ancient Egypt. Reflexology works on the theory that every organ and system within the body is mirrored by reflex points in the feet. By massaging and using pressure points on the feet the reflexologist can observe and facilitate a clearing of any blockages in the corresponding areas of the body.

A reflexology practitioner uses light pressure to massage each of the points in the toes, feet and ankles to release tension, remove energy blockages, disperse accumulations of calcium and uric acid, stimulate blood circulation and promote healing of both body and mind.

Generally, most clients report that a reflexology treatment is wonderfully relaxing and soothing, and many people fall asleep. Each session lasts 45 minutes. A series of sessions are necessary to resolve any problems. Some clients book a regularly weekly or monthly session as a preventative measure, to keep their systems balanced.

Reflexology can be used to treat a wide range of disorders including skin and respiratory conditions, migraine, PMS and menopausal problems, chronic fatigue, stress, depression and anxiety. It can be used to keep the energy within the body flowing freely helping to maintain a state of homeostasis.
